Located to the south east of Cape Town’s city bowl and Table Mountain, the southern suburbs are a collection of residential areas. For the most part these areas are at the base of the Table Mountain National Park which stretches from Signal Hill right down to Cape Point.
These pretty, leafy areas include Rondebosch, Observatory, Claremont, Kenilworth, Wynberg, Newlands, Constantia, Bishopscourt, and Tokai. The southern peninsula stretches further down to Muizenberg, Noordhoek, Fish Hoek, Kommetjie, and Simon’s Town.

- Don’t miss the Maynardville Community Chest Carnival in Wynberg at the end of January
- The University of Cape Town has campuses in the southern suburbs and is an impressive structure against the mountain
