SAMARA MOUNTAIN RETREAT
Samara, Eastern Cape,
Samara's mountain retreat is one of the most secluded Villa's in Africa, it is Tucked away in the Mountains on the private reserve of 70 000 acres. The very same land that used to house the greatest migration on earth (the great springbok migration) the retreat is rustic, secluded & remote, you get it all exclusive with your very own dedicated ranger, chef and butler.
The retreat is a restored home and 250 year old barn, that can take a total of 10 people, although even if you are just 2 people you get it fully exclusive to yourself. There is generator powered electricity if needed but we like to keep things remote and use candles and lanterns most of the time, you have to come experience the beauty of Samara.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms:
SLEEPS 10: 5 Bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms
- 2 Bedrooms are in the 250 year old restored barn, and have stone floors and doors open to great views and a private patio.
- 3 Bedrooms inside the retreat home stead, with windows and views to the valley below where bushmen used to roam and cave rock art paintings can be seen.
- 4 bedrooms can be made into a twin or double, the 5th room is a bit smaller with 2 single beds and ideal for children.
Bathrooms
- 2 bedrooms in the restored barn are the biggest rooms and have a Victorian bath tub and separate showers and double vanity.
- 2 bedrooms in the Home stead have a Victorian bath tub (no showers) and a single vanity basin.
- 1 Bedroom has just a shower and wash basin.
- All bathrooms have a toilet.
Living Areas:
- The home has 3 areas to enter exit, the front door, the back kitchen door and the big sliding door onto covered patio off the open plan Lounge and dining area.
- The entrance to the bedrooms inside the barn are with doors onto a private patio.

- The décor is Karoo country style, stone floors, high ceilings and planty windows and glass to enjoy the views, comfortable sofas inside and on the outside coveren patio that wraps around the home.
- In a mountain retreat there is no need for a television, but we do have one with satellite TV if needed, the home also has wireless internet connectivity and a hifi to play some tunes if you don’t want to hear the sound of nature.
- There is an indoor and outdoor dining room, the indoor is open plan to the lounge, the outdoor one is covered and looks onto the great mountains and landscapes.
- There is seating for 10 people at each table.
- Traditional style karoo country Kitchen.
Outdoor:
2 large terraced patios, one covered, the other not covered but has portable shading options, you have plenty comfortable seating and sofas and sun lounges.
- A large underground spring water filled pool, is offered if needed and filled on request, it's a round farm style pool above ground.
- Your garden is the natural karoo bush
- Most amazing views
- BBQ, and a dedicated Boma area wth a second BBQ area.
- You have a ranger protecting you.
Other:
- You have your own housekeeper and staff, so can be serviced anytime, but generally are serviced in mornings and for evening turn down's.
- You park at our karoo lodge and you are driven up into the mountains by your private ranger in a game viewer, or a walk is also offered while your bags are driven up.
