VILLA VIVRE

Green Point, Cape Town, South Africa
Villa Vivre is both glamorous and quirky, refined yet exuberant; an inspiring space which begs for entertaining on a large or intimate scale. Located a few minutes' walking distance from Green Point's trendy delis and coffee shops, this is the ideal Cape Town base for people who believe that the best socializing happens around a kitchen or dining table, and see meals as languid, artful affairs.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms:
4 Bedrooms:
Sleeping eight in a warren of bedrooms, all wonderfully private. Every space leads up and into the heart of Villa Vivre. Enter through a large custom-made door to find the entrance to an en-suite bedroom to your left. The most privately located bedroom, this features French doors (with shutters) that open onto the small front garden, planted with indigenous varieties. The en-suite bathroom features a large open-plan shower. Underfloor heating throughout bedroomd and bathroom.
The front upstairs bedroom has double doors leading out to the verandah and beautiful antique cupboard. The en suite bathroom has the only tub (no shower) in the Villa. Bathroom floors of all upstairs rooms are heated.
Bedrooms three and four are located at the back of the house, on either side of a small and very charming courtyard. Both bedrooms have double doors leading out onto this petite sun-splashed area. The en suite showers are generous, with doors from both showers leading directly onto the courtyard, providing the luxurious sensation of showering virtually outdoors!
Living Areas:
KITCHEN:
Take the generous interior staircase leading to the first floor, or bypass to enter Villa Vivre's unique feature: a 'cold kitchen' with large glassed walk-in cold room and specialized catering equipment. Doors from this kitchen lead out to a staircase joining this level to the upstairs courtyard.
DINING:
An elegant dining table, where 20 guests can be seated beneath the glittering Murano crystal chandelier. The owner's demonstration kitchen, a natural extension of this double volume space, invites hours of experimentation, with natural light spilling in through the glass doors that lead out to the verandah.
The upstairs space is centered around the entertainment area: a 20-seater dining table and small lounge area, the latter furnished in superb leather and Nguni skin deco pieces and Fortuni lamp. There is no TV but an efficient Morso fireplace, a sound system and well-stocked bookcase. Leading off this dining-lounge is the spacious kitchen area, which has further seating for up to six, and doors that lead onto the verandah.
DECOR:
Wonderful objects and selection of artworks throughout, including those by of well-known artist Beatrix Bosch.
But perhaps the best indication of Villa Vivre's well-bred luxury is its individuality: almost everything you encounter is bespoke or vintage - from the WonkyWare plates, custom-made to the owner's specifications, to the antique Victorian basins, imported from Argentinia, Villa Vivre offers a unique experience. No wonder it's caused a sensation in design and decor magazines.
Outdoor:
From this shady outdoor space, passing ships en route to Cape Town harbour can be glimpsed through Green Point's rooftops, and pots of fresh herbs flourish beside the barbeque.
Private courtyard (back) and shaded verandah (front, with semi-sea views)
Garage for one car; has additional storage space for each bedroom in garage.
Other:
Serviced daily
