Why Madikwe Game Reserve?

A Big Five Game Reserve tucked against the Botswana border in the North West Province of South Africa, Madikwe Game Reserve offers an authentic African bush experience in a malaria-free zone.

The government originally created this game reserve as farming had been unsuccessful and the disadvantaged area was in need of economic upliftment. Now the hidden gem is one of the best conservation areas in Africa and home to a thriving population of the endangered African Wild Dog.

Guests are accommodated in a number of excellent lodges offering exceptional views, day and night game activities, and a private and personal experience. Access to the park is limited to those with accommodation booked so there are no day visitors and traffic is limited.

Game viewing is excellent year round with animals concentrating around the waterholes during the winter months. The reserve consist of vast open plains of woodlands and grasslands and is only 3.5 hours drive from Johannesburg.
